A blanket DIY.

Laundry, I'm kind of an expert. I do at least two loads a day.  No one in my house seems to mind, or notice, that I do ALL the laundry. I honestly think, they think a little fairy comes each night and takes care of the work. Wouldn't that be great, a little laundry fairy? The only time my children seem to take notice is when I wash their lovies

We have a Bun-Bun, a Lambie, a Dooooowwwg, and whatever Lyla loves the "mostest" at that particular moment in time. If I add their blankets to the mix we have ourselves a laundry party!

I'm not sure why, but this is very traumatic for the younger children. My oldest used to cry when it was time to wash her bunny and blanket. She would sit right by the dryer and wait for bell to go off. I often used to sneak them out of her bed and wash them while she was sleeping...that way I didn't have to deal with all the drama that came with the cleaning of those particular items.

I make sure I take extra care when washing these items. I use laundry soap that provides a superior cleaning performance like, Member’s Mark® Ultimate Clean Laundry Detergent in Fresh Scent, and I ALWAYS wash the stuffed animals in a pillow case. I wash these items in cold water, and on a gentle cycle. I used the general cycle mostly because,  I made each of my babies a no sew blanket, and given the fact that they are no-sew...the gentle cycle helps prevent the ties from coming undone.

Want to make a no-sew blanket of your own?

It's so easy!

You'll need two yards of fleece fabric. First lay the fabric on top of each other, dull side facing inwards. Then cut a square out of each corner. Next measure and cut about every two inches. Just eyeball the cuts, it isn't rocket science, the strips don't have to be perfect. Cut all four sides. WITH OUT picking up the blanket, start at one side and make a tie with the strips, then tie again. Once you are finished with one side, start tying the opposite side, this will prevent the fabric from slipping. When you are finished with tying all the four sides, the blanket will resemble a little ball...don't worry once you wash it...it will take the form of a rectangle again.

Be sure to wash your blanket when your finished, using a gentle cleanser like Member's Mark®...which also has a patented Ultimate Clean Technology. Washing your blanket will give its shape back and will help remove excess fuzz from cutting. These blankets are perfect for snuggling, and they make great gifts! One yard makes one thin and long blanket, or you can cut the yard in half and make two small blankets. If you would like an adult size, I suggest getting two yards of fabric.

Member's Mark® Ultimate Clean Liquid Laundry Cleaner is HE compatible and safe for all washing machine styles, it offers superior performance and is a great value for Sam's Club Members. It performs as well or better than the national leading brand, and it's much cheaper!  You can pick your up at Sam's Club today!
