math at home.

I purposely kept Jude home and opted not to send him to pre-school. I did the same thing with Elisabeth. However, because I am not sending him to school I make it a point to teach him fun things like math! After stalking pinterest for some time, I mixed together a few ides I saw and came up with this.

Grab a deck of cards and some Legos (blocks will work as well) . Turn the card over and the number you get is the number of blocks you need to stack. It is that simple.

some variations include:

greater than // less than :  Turn two cards over and stack blocks according to number that was drawn. Next, grab some craft sticks to make the signs, and decide which is less than/greater than/equal . This is great way to teach the less than, greater than, and equal signs.

patterns: Draw a number and use that number to create a pattern.

Overall smarty pants Jude really loved this, and he was learning while he was playing...score!

He did not however love the fact that Lyla was stilling all his cards and trying to knock over his towers...ahhhhh sibling love.
