This was a fun experiment all my children enjoyed and still talk about! This can be done with items you most likely already have in your home!
You only need three things...a glass, and egg, and vinegar.
Simply place the egg in the glass and pour vinegar over the top of it. Sit. Wait. Watch to see what happens.
Take predictions.
In a day or two the shell of the egg should be completely dissolved.
Why does this happen?
"The acetic acid in vinegar dissolving the shell of an egg by eating away the calcium carbonate, it releases carbon dioxide gas and leaving calcium acetate, which is soluble."
We also used an organic egg and a non-organic egg...and compared the differences...compared how long it took the vinegar to do its thing.
