Quality time + math is great + Pyramid Solitaire

I was an only child for almost ten years.
Ten years I waited to have someone to play with. I had to be creative up until that point.
There are not too many games you can play by yourself. Sure, you can craft, color, create...but not too many games allow you to play solo...and have fun! Except one, Solitaire. Oh how I loved solitaire! I played solitaire all.the.time. I wore cards down so thin with the constant shuffling. I was good too!

I was honestly super excited to download the new game Pyramid Solitaire from MobilityWare for this blog post!

It took me a game or two to get the hang of the "strategy"...and by strategy I mean remember my math facts. Holy moly...my math skills need some sharpening...this game I know will help! Im not going to lie for the first few games I used the hint button...a lot...I think this is a fantastic feature for when trying to learn the game! There is also an undo option, and there is no limit to the hints or undo's you can use! There is also a timer on the game...so as we became better at Pyramid Solitaire...we raced each other to see if we could beat each others "personal best" score.

After about two games I had the hang of it. The over all gist is that this is like a game of solitaire, only set up like a pyramid...but to get rid of cards you use the math facts of 13. For example, a 9 paired up with a 4 ( which equals 13) clears the line...8 and a 5 makes 13 and that also clears the cards...and so on! Now with face cards...kings are worth 13 so all you have to do is click on the king to clear the card. Queens are 12 and need to be paired with an Ace. Jacks are worth 11 and are paired with 2's.

This sounds easy enough...but in an average of 10 games I win about once or twice. Games like this challenge me and my brain...I tend to be a bit competitive...so it becomes my goal to clear that pyramid!!! I was so into this game that my children noticed...and they wanted to know what I was up too. Then after teaching them and having them watch me a few times...they asked to play. I grudeingly shared. They loved Pyramid Solitaire just as much as I did!

As I watched my children (ages 11, 9, and 6 ) play I noticed a few more perks of this game. Quality sibling time, they truly enjoyed working together to solve this pyramid. This game makes their brains work.I mentioned earlier math skills...but that is a vast category...I'm going to break down why daily math skills in our lives are so important!
In younger aged children, like my 6 year, old it teaches number recognition, connections, patterns, math facts, In all aged children, and adults, math helps the brain.MATH IS AMAZING! Math trains the brain to to see connections and builds the neural pathways that make the brain stronger for all other things. These pathways open build blocks for other interest! Pathways to analyze and solve problems, stretching the mind to work on unfamiliar tasks with confidence, learning with triaail and error, critical thinking, and there are even studies about how math may help reduce Alzheimer's, and so much more! Math is so cool!

Pyramid Solitaire can help squeeze in a little math, quite "you" time, and even a little quality family time! Be sure to teach "Pyramid" in your App Store today!
