I looooooooooooove homemade toffee! I don't enjoy cleaning the pot it was made in....until now. I made a batch of my favorite homemade toffee and thanks to the new Scotch-Brite® Scrubbing Dish Cloths...the clean up was a breeze.

The Scotch-Brite® Scrubbing Dish Cloth is fully washable, reusable and sturdy. The scrubbing dots on the one side of the dish cloth allow you to take on tough messes in the sink and across a variety of surfaces...this is my favorite feature. The double side gives you non-scratch scrubbing power with the wiping and drying functions of a dish cloth...these are also available in different colors...so they can match any decor. They are available in a 2-pack at Walmart in the following colors Navy, Tan, Coral, Mint (online only), and Gray (online only) for $4.97.

HOMEMADE TOFFEE:

you'll need:

2 sticks of butter
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of water
candy thermometer (optional- I didn't use one)
chocolate chips - about 1/2 a cup...give or take depending on your liking of chocolate
sprinkles, candy, peppermint, nuts...whatever toppings you fancy. (optional)

Step one: In a big pot melt butter on high.

Step two: Once the butter starts to melt add sugar.

Step three: Add water.

Step four: Bring to a boil. Once it is boiling you can turn heat down a bit...to med-high...turn heat back up if boil stops.

...stir the whole time...

After about 10-13 mins your mixture will start to thicken...and the color will change from a white to a nice carmel color...heat until a candy thermometer reads 300F...be careful...do NOT take your eye off of this...or it will burn!

Step five: Spread mixture onto parchment paper.

Step six: Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot toffee.

Step seven: Once chocolate chips start to melt...spread the melted chocolate all around the toffee.

Step eight: Sprinkle with toppings if you'd like. Wait until chocolate has hardened...and break toffee into bit sized pieces.

Those tough spots on my pan used to be hard to get off! See the before photo...

Scotch-Brite® Scrubbing Dish Cloth fixed that problem! See the after photo...
