There is this great song by Chris Tomlin called I will follow. This song is based off scripture from the book of Ruth (1:6). Ruth in itself is an amazing story about love, loyalty, and God's faithfulness. Ruth is someone I could really stand to take a few notes from. There are 5 lines in the song I will Follow that really tugged at my heart the other day...

Who you love, I'll love
How you serve I'll serve
If this life I lose,
I will follow you,
I will follow you,

You see the last three lines I have no problem with, it is the first two. Who you love, I'll love ... what can I say, people are hard to love...regardless I know god calls me to love them anyways. I can let multiple things get in the way of that. I can let past hurts, or present hurts reduce my ability to love others. I can let my own personal bad mood, or the fact that I just simply don't feel like it effect my willingness to love others. The same applies to serving others. I often let my own attitude become my worst enemy. So this week am I am going to work on loving and serving others the way Jesus would, not the way I would.

this is such a beautiful post - i feel like i should reread it whenever i'm struggling to love someone that is making it difficult. the best thing about this, however, is how it shows your kind heart - it's truly inspiring :)

I love this song! And you're so right. It's soooo simple to live like Jesus - but it's so hard! Dying to oneself and giving it all for Him to be like Him and pour ourselves out for others truly requires the Holy Spirit!

I love that song, too! I can totally relate to it being hard to love who He loves. Sometimes thats a real tough one. I'm so thankful the Lord is patient with us :)
