contention.

"The beginning of strife is like releasing water;
Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts."
Proverbs 17:14 NKJV

Contention is defined as the following: something (such as a belief, opinion, or idea) that is argued or stated. : anger and disagreement. : a situation in which you have a chance to win something.

So be careful friends. Stop fights before they start. Pick your battles. Sometimes the argument just isn't worth it, even the bible tells us in Proverbs 26:4, "When arguing with fools, don't answer their foolish arguments, or you will become as foolish as they are." So let it be, smile, and move on with your day.

yes girl. i've learned this the hard way. but it's true, it never gets anywhere and only bitter feelings are left. it is best to leave it where it is.

Boy oh boy if I could have known this when I was younger....but I just didn't. And I am with Leah--lots of hard lessons, but it is so true. So thankful for all He has taught me in this area!! Smile and walk away.

Thanks for the reminder. I find that it is easy to make issues out of little things, especially in marriage. After our fellowship is broken, I wonder why I made a big deal out of something so small. It's much better to just move on and enjoy unbroken fellowship unless the issue is actually big.

This is so true! Kill them with kindness! :) But really, foolish fighting leads to nothing good. Thanks for the reminder!

thank you so much for this reminder! :) you are so right that we need to pick our battles! i heard a quote said recently, "sometimes it's better to love than to be right" and it hit me hard. :)

there are definitely mountains to die on. but they are rare!

AMEN! I've had many opportunities in the last few years to practice keeping my mouth shut, realizing (only because of the Holy Spirit) that it's unreasonable to even attempt to reason with fools.
