like arrows in the hands of a warrior are the children born in ones youth /// psalms 127:4

I have been thinking about this scripture a lot lately. Spending time in prayer about it, meditating on it. Children are such a gift, and parenting is such a huge responsibility. A job, I love and take very seriously. Elisabeth, Jude, and Lyla are my little arrows and it is my job to shoot them off in the right direction. Take into account that they are all three different people, and all three have different personalities that makes my job even more interesting. One arrow might require being shot with care and gentleness ... another might require stern and prompt shooting. I think about the different directions they can endeavor towards ... athletics, academics, compassion, kindness ... all the areas in life I aim them towards. While these things can be important. The most important thing I can point them toward is Jesus. Truth be told if they never grow up to win a championship, become an olympic athlete, play for the STL Cardinals (that one was for you hubs :) , become a straight A student, valedictorian of their class, or a future MD... I wont care ... those things don't matter. What matters is that they love and know... i mean truly know God's love and mercy.  If I can shoot my three little arrows in that direction and hit the bullseye of Christ ... I can call this parenting thing a success.

Beautifully written..and I am so thankful for you. Thankful to be able to read this and your insight before we have children. No doubt, your kiddos are blessed to have you as their momma.

Amen to that. I hope to point my future kids in the direction that leads them to Christ. I want them to not only know about the goodness of God's love for us but I would like them to have a relationship with God, to be able to feel that although they cannot see Christ, He is always there for us. =)

Amen! Amazing these little weapons we're given to refine for battle. I love the imagery, because it's such a courageous mission God has given us. I accept!
