 colic.

How do you know your baby has colic? you know.

When Jude was a baby he cried and cried, then when he was done crying he cried a little more.

Here are a few things I learned with a colic baby:

1.) It will stop.one day. There is light at the end of the tunnel...they won't cry forever.
{For Jude it lasted about 10 months.}

2.) Don't be afraid put your crying baby in their crib shut the door and walk away.
Sometimes this in necessary for your daily activities and your own sanity.

3.) Don't underestimate the power of music.
I am convinced that every baby has one song they love. One they can listen to over and over again. Find that song make a copy and then make a few more copies and hand it out to anyone you might be spending time with.
{Jude loved Cecilia}

4.) single ladies
Yes the song. I heard once that babies like the beat and the black & white contrast of the video.
Jude loved it. I would place him in a bouncer in front of youtube and he would watch single ladies at least 3 times in a row. Which would give me about 10-15 mins of time...you can be amazed at what you can accomplish in 10 - 15 mins.

5.) Go outside.
My experience has been that crying babies like to outside.

I could probably make a list of at least 100 things...but I won't. :)

So let me hear them, do you have a tips for crying babies?

so true..... I had a baby with colic and it was rough. Your tips are right on.... even though my baby STILL cried. :) What worked best for me was taking a break.... putting her in her crib and closing the door and going to sit on my front step for a few minutes. It does pass. My now 11 year old developed into the most even-keeled, sweet natured toddler and girl. I always said I would definitely go through it again... it was worth every angst filled moment! :)

you got it right! My little guy, who is now 6 months, and colic-free, thank goodness, also loved the Ergo. He always loves the ERgo, but it was especially helpful in calming him on those extra-colicy days : (

I never had a baby that suffered with colic but have heard how unbelievably tough it is. I couldn't imagine worrying that something was wrong and then not knowing what to do to stop it. So, so hard.
That said, I have never heard of the "Single Ladies" advice! Ha!

I don't have babies nor do I really hang out with them on a frequent basis. But I want to. And I like what I've read. I shall keep it in mind!

girl...so sorry you are dealing with this....Ive been there! little Bethany;s finally just ended at just past 3 months. i spent lots of nights sitting by running bath water...its the only thing that would calm her. (and of course the minute i turned it off she cried more) and one night it hit me...why am I not just getting IN this bath! haha! so lets just say I took a lot of baths with the water running for the last several months!! ALSO..it helped Abigail for me to swaddle her and then bounce on the bouncy (yoga) ball! I would bounce forEVER on it!!! prayers fo you!!!! I KNOW its not easy. Been meaning to post on this soon too. :) love to you!!!

Music was a key for all my kiddos! My oldest loved these children's bible songs...sang by little children that start out adorable and end with me wanting to find all of them and BEG them to never sing again, my girl loved anything with a good beat (and still does!) and my littlest was all about Josh Groban, that CD was on repeat ALLL night long! Also, peppermint water worked for them, learned that from my Granny. ;0)

Oh how I hope and pray things are getting better for you and your family. My little guy cried for 6 months but his was acid reflux. I would put him in my Moby wrap and takes laps around the neighborhood. Sometimes it was the only thing that would calm him down. I also got a white noise maker for when he slept. He preferred the heart beat sound to anything else. Figures since he liked to be close to my chest all day long. And you're so right about putting them in their crib, Jacob is 20 months and still have to do it sometimes. Hang in there!
