book review and giveaway.

I saw this great website called Thomas Neslon and they have this amazing thing called thomas nelson mommy ( you can the button on the sidebar ) which gives you the opportunity to read and review books. I heart books, so I was more than happy to do this!

Last week I got my book One Wintry Night in the mail. I was more than impressed and I am not just saying that because this is a book review. It is written by Ruth Bell Graham and illustrated by Richard Jesse Waston. The words are so great, and honestly the last part of the nativity story got me a little teary eyed. Don't even get me started on the illustration. stunning. I was really impressed on how the illustrations made such an impact on Jude. For those of you who have been reading my blog, you know Jude is quite the little realist. He was so intrigued by these pictures and was pointing and asking questions. The book is multiply books and stories into one, so you can take your time reading. It is a total of 72 pages.. You can see a virtual copy and a flip book HERE. Overall this book is great for personal use or would make an amazing tool for church or homeschooling.

I love kids books...even though I don't have kids just yet it doesn't stop me from looking at/buying books to read to them in the future or I just read them for fun (brings me back to my childhood.

I loved reading the night before Christmas before every Christmas as a child, And favorite Christmas tradition is waking up Christmas morning and seeing our stockings stuff with small fun things...such as an orange, apple and chocolate cover cherries :)

My favorite Christmas tradition is seeing the tree lit up in a dark house every night!

I can't WAIT to begin Christmas traditions with my own children, a mix of those I grew up with and some new ones just for them!

Yes, we do read together Christmas Eve. All the Christmas books, including my favorite Jan Brett written/illustrated stories, only get brought out the weeks before Christmas, and if we are lucky we'll have snow on Christmas Eve and can read holiday stories by firelight!

We love reading all through the Jesus storybook bible during advent. It really brings the season to life!

We started a new book tradition this year. I scoured thrift stores for Christmas books and placed them in a basket beside the fire place. We are reading several every day. Many of them are Little Golden books I read as a child. This has been a treat for me just as much as the children!

Alex's favorite Christmas story she looks forward to hearing is Twas the night before Christmas. Even though we have informed her that Santa is just a story and not "real" she still chooses to believe he is :-)

We started the tradition last year and hope to continue it for years to come. We read Twas the night before Christmas and How the Grinch stole Christmas several times in the month of December.

We DO read together on Christmas Eve. Right before bedtime E reads to Alexis and I tend to listen in as well ;-)

We haven't made our own Christmas books but that is a GREAT idea!!

I forgot to add Alex has a Christmas Stories book that are stories of Jesus. The other day she came in to tell me Jesus was born in a "manager"...lol I corrected her after I giggled for a few minutes.

Christmas traditions include: Making Cookies and decorating them, reading books, E puts the star on the tree, and we seem to add more each year :-)

i've gone way over board buying books this year....there are just too many good ones. One wintery night always comes out on my grandma's coffee table at Christmas. i love it. My parents gave the kids a book last year about Christmas and their voices are recorded reading the book as the kids flip the pages. they love it and i think it's their favorite.

I'm also building our collection so i can wrap 25 books and have the kids open a new one each day as we count down to Christmas.

Thanks so much for featuring One Wintry Night. My publisher told me about your blog and I have come by to say hi! I was the illustrator on One Wintry Night. This book tells of the true meaning of Christmas. It is kind of the Bible in a nutshell. Loads of pictures.

Ruth told me she wanted a book with pictures for kids where the more they look, the more they see. Hope your readers get the opportunity to enjoy this book, made with much love and prayer.
