This post is sponsored by Hiland Dairy but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

It's my favorite time of year! I love creating simple moments of fun for quality time and memory building.

Last week I made a bunch of cookies, a homemade buttercream frosting, and purchased a few gallons of flavored Hiland Dairy milk.

Cookie decorating and milk are such a simple way to slow down and to be intentional with loved ones.

I ended up with plain milk, chocolate milk, sugar cookie milk, and of course my personal favorite egg nog.

I went simple and bought pre-made cookie dough this time around...just cut and bake.

I refused to compromise on the icing. Homemade is the way to go!

you'll need:

3
cups powdered sugar

1/3
cups of Hiland Dairy butter, softened

1 1/2
teaspoons vanilla

1
to 2 tablespoons of Hiland Dairy milk

Beat butter + sugar together until smooth and then add vanilla + milk. Optional: food coloring for colored frosting.

One thing  I truly love about Hiland Dairy is they always encourage reusing their products to turn into crafts, games, or something else.

I decided to rinse out and cut open a milk carton. Then once it was dry I used a cookie cutter to trace stars and after used scissors to cut the shapes.

I had orginally planned to put glue and glitter all over the stars and string it up as garland. But...my 7 year old and my 5 year old love to createe, once they caught wind of what was going on...they showed up and took my stars one by one to decorate.

They colored and added jewels and hole punched until they had created a handful of masterpieces.

I kinda liked  their idea better. I'm glad they took over.

Those faces though....

and those tiny hands covered in icing...

Such sweet memories made in with very little effort...in part due to the high quality of Hiland Dairy!
