HOMEMADE TOFFEE

Wednesday, December 15, 2021

Homemade toffee just might be the easiest and most addictive treat you can make. Ever.
.
.
You'll need:

2 sticks of butter
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of water
candy thermometer (optional- I didn't use one)
chocolate chips - about 1/2 a cup...give or take depending on your liking of chocolate
sprinkles, candy, peppermint, nuts...whatever toppings you fancy. (optional)
.
.
Step one: In a big pot melt butter on high. Step two: Once the butter starts to melt add sugar.
Step three: Add water.Step four: Bring to a boil. Once it is boiling you can turn heat down a bit...to med-high...turn heat back up if boil stops. 🔺stir the whole time🔺After about 10-13 mins your mixture will start to thicken...and the color will change from a white to a nice carmel color...heat until a candy thermometer reads 300F...be careful...do NOT take your eye off of this...or it will burn!  Step five: Spread mixture onto parchment paper. Step six: Sprinkle chocolate chips over hot toffee. Step seven: Once chocolate chips start to melt...spread the melted chocolate all around the toffee...then add toppings. Once the toffee is cooled, break up into bite sized pieces. #homemade #toffee #homemadetoffee #teachergifts #stockingstuffers #treats #christmasparty
