Lyla with a hotdog float at Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park July 5th, 2021. As much as she has all.the.feels.all.the.time. She is equal parts adventure, carefree, and fun. #thatsjudesfloat #lylagirl

Johnson Shut-in is located in in Reynolds County, Missouri about an hour-ish south of St. Louis and 5 hours from Kansas City, ADMISSION: FREE // Here are my take aways:
.
.
1.) There is fun for all to be had, you can bring a chair and relax, there are clam waters for younger kids, and larger pools for the big kids. There are a few areas to "cliff jump" and many areas that are restricted ( FOR REASON!- even though you will see many ignoring signs and rules...so much so I personally had to walk away because my nerves were shot after watching a few teenagers do back flips off said restricted rocks...Don't worry I pull a Karen and made sure I told them how close they were from from death and you can't fix heads 🤷‍♀️)
.
.
2.) BRING WATER SHOES. THE ROCKS ARE SLIPPERY, be careful and cautious. I was very much so reminded of my age yesterday. #myarmsaresosoretoday (👵) There are a few trails you can take to the other pools of water if you'd like to avoid the rocks.
.
.
3.) Pack a lunch (grills available) and you can eat in designated area (no food or coolers are allowed by the water // NO PETS - there is a $500 fine for breaking said rules) You can bring water bottles, just not disposable - people leave behind too much trash so they've been banned.
.
.
4.) The water is beautiful, clear, refreshing, and no snakes were spotted.
.
.
5.) Partial wheelchair/handicap access. No real wheelchair accessibility to the water only to the lookout, at least to my knowledge.
.
.
6.) These photos don't give this park justice in hindsight I wish I would have brought my waterproof cover or the Go Pro. There's no way to carry your phone without it getting soaking wet.
.
.

7.) While you're in the area you should visit Elephant Rocks State Park. (Post coming soon!)
